Surface to Air were appointed as the Architect to develop a scheme to provide a new five form entry primary school building on Peterborough Road. The new school building will house Holy Cross Primary School, Ecole Marie d’Orliac and also a jointly managed bilingual school. The proposal aims to create a harmonious working and learning environment that reflects the core values of the two schools as well as celebrating the unique setting of joint French and English schooling.

The design concept was to create a modern high quality main school hall and glass entrance cloister to link to the listed Victorian school house. The existing building will be sensitively refurbished. There will be a new central atrium to be cut through all three floor plates to connect the school visually. The client brief was for the project design to reflect the excellence of the educational offer, while enhancing the special character and appearance of the context in which the school is set.
