The Penthouse

With the co-location of the Social Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) Unit (a school for student aged 4-9 excluded from Primary School education) onto the Langford Primary School site, additional space was required within Langford Primary School's estate to accommodate the outreach staff team from the SEBD Unit. The space chosen to house them was located on the top floor of the main school building; this space was originally internalised, dark and unwelcoming. The design concept was to re-engage the space within its context by opening up the view from the space across to Chelsea and Fulham, and to create a flexible open-plan work zone, flooded with natural light.
