Timeline: Legacy Impact for the Olympics

March

Over the last month Surface to Air have been commissioned to work on a series of new projects.

Our newest commission is a unique project for Graveney School in Wandsworth. Here, we are developing a feasibility and masterplan for the future of the school, which includes new architectural buildings and significant refurbishment to listed buildings currently on the site. The design of the urban realm and landscaping will be key to the projects success. We are working with the school to create a series of new courtyards of public and private areas which are zoned very much in nature of an Oxbridge college.

Another new commission is from Jacques Prevert School in Hammersmith, here we are helping the school to develop a masterplan for its expansion. The school is situated on a key urban site with an existing building of high architectural quality and small footprint. The school is looking to enhance and expand its facilities.

This month also saw us working with a new client, the London Development Authority on the legacy impact for the Olympics. We worked with them to create a graphic timeline to illustrate the legacy the Olympics will have on East London communities (see picture above).

We are also happy to announce we have been granted planning permission for All Saints School in Croydon, which shall be going on site in late May this year.

In other news, Holly Porter, Director of Surface to Air Architects, has been involved in two personal projects over the last month: firstly, a feature article for Wound Magazine previewing the’ Skin and Bones’ exhibition, designed by Eva Jiricna. Secondly, Holly has been asked to become a judge on the AIA’s Excellence in Design Awards Programme in April. The awards programme recognises and honours excellence in Design. These awards are highly valued by architects because they confer trans-atlantic recognition.

This month Pascale Scheurer, Director of Surface to Air Architects, was invited to be a member of the judging panel for the ‘Construction Future leaders’ award.
